Senior Software Engineer – Payment Capture, Group Digital

Amsterdam, Nordholland - Standort erkunden IT Vollzeit

HEJ! (Swedish for Hi)

In IKEA, we are looking for several passionate engineers who are excited about technology and innovative ways of working and want to be a part of shaping the future of IKEA!

You may know IKEA from the furniture we sell, but there is much more happening in the background. Our vision of “creating a better everyday life for the many people” needs to be supported by amazing software systems, and we would like to ask if you want to be a part of this.

In Payments, we want to enable all our customers to have a seamless payment experience. We want to achieve that by:

• Making payments feel frictionless regardless of where and how it is done

• Enabling our customers around the world to use their preferred payment methods

• Setting high engineering standards which ensure that the systems we build are highly secure, scalable, and resilient

• Experimenting with new technologies, taking a data driven approach to continuous improvement

To achieve this, we have laid a strong foundation that will allow us to grow steady and fast. We want to provide an easy-to-use platform for other products within IKEA to take payments regardless of channel.

In this role, you will report to an engineering manager in the Payments capability area. The Amsterdam office in the Netherlands will be your home location.
Do you have these essentials?

When you visit our website (IKEA.com) and read about our culture and values it resonates with you. You are curious and view failure as a way of learning and pushing your skills. You believe in taking a pragmatic approach and value simplicity when building new solutions. You also:

• Have a proven track record of delivering high-quality services using JVM-based languages

• Have experience designing secure, scalable, and resilient systems

• Are familiar with cloud computing platforms (preferably GCP, but AWS or Azure experience is great too!)

• Have used deployment automation tools such as Terraform and GitHub Actions

• Embrace modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics

• Want to grow an inclusive engineering culture based on DevOps principles

• Are passionate about customers and champion their needs

• Enjoy mentoring and growing engineers around you

• Have great written and verbal communication skills

Do you have these desirables?

• Experience working in e-commerce and online payments

• Comfortable building simple web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks

Most companies will try to entice you with amazing salaries and an awesome office location. We have all of that, but that’s not the main dish, that’s just the entree. As the main course, we want to constantly challenge you as an engineer. This is what we have for you:

• A direct impact on the lives of the many people. With us, you will be challenged to create scalable solutions that have direct customer impact. Not only for our customers but our colleagues worldwide.

• A smile, on every customer's face, when they receive the product they wanted, in the way they wanted to pay.

• A challenging work environment, where technical excellence and collaboration are key, and fun is a must.

• Continuous learning with our 80/20 rule. 80% working on a product 20% working on yourself. We will provide you with Coursera and Pluralsight accounts.
